Alpha-lipoic acid, also known as thioctic acid, is a sulfur compound that plays an important role in the physiological functioning of certain enzymes involved in metabolic processes involved in energy production, mainly in the mitochondrion. In fact, the mitochondrion is the organelle in cells that functions as the "energy powerhouse." Alpha lipoic acid may contribute indirectly to the maintenance of the cellular antioxidant state by promoting the production of endogenous low molecular weight antioxidants. For example, LA promotes the regeneration of intracellular levels of vitamin C. It also supports the endogenous production of intracellular glutathione (GSH), a natural antioxidant thiol and co-substrate for detoxifying enzymes, in various cell types and tissues. Alpha-lipoic acid levels decrease significantly with age. LA is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and subsequently transported to tissues.

Ingredients
Alpha lipoic acid; bulking agent: microcrystalline cellulose; vegetable capsule (hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose); anti-caking agent: vegetable magnesium stearate.

Mode of use.
Swallow 1 to 2 vegetarian capsules daily with water, preferably with meals.
